How much is deducted depends on several factors, including whether you are the head of your household, you are contributing more than half of the support of a minor child and the total check amount.
When you file either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, the court issues an automatic stay. This prohibits creditors from pursuing collection actions, including most wage garnishments. It is important to note that some garnishments, such as for child support, are not affected by bankruptcy.
